Casa da Vitória reflects the dream of the owner, after more than 20 years of following her husband through several American, European, Asian countries, to buy a house and turn it into a charm pousada. In this way, she has been able to put into practice all the experience she had gained in her adventures throughout the globe.
The Guest House’s name makes a reference to the neighborhood where it is located, Vitória, which comes from having been in the hall where the locals marched chanting Vitória, in english “victory”, in the war for the independence of Bahia, in 1823.
By the early nineteenth century, the neighborhood became a suburb in Salvador after being occupied by huge mansions with distinct architectural features of the then prevailing colonial style. Old trees still remain and still give a unique feature to this area of the city was once housed the imperial aristocracy, as well as new foreign traders newcomers to Bahia that fled the narrow, hilly streets of the Historic Center.
